In the 21st century, little comes close to defining unjust and oppressive actions on innocents like the so-called “War on Terror” and there remains no greater emblem of this abominable policy than the odious and notorious Camp Delta (Guantanamo Bay) prison camp.
2022 marks the 20th year of this den of dehumanisation and torture – an affront to the very love of humanity and engendered moral sensibilities its curators profess to live by.
At its loathsome height, Camp Delta tortured over 700 men, many never to come out alive, while dozens still remain languishing after decades of incarceration without trial or charge.
LIC stands with those unceasing voices calling for the immediate closure of this blight upon the conscience of humanity. We urge every Muslim, civic and world leader, countries holding sacrosanct the presumption of innocence before the law until proven otherwise and freedom from torture, to not dampen down their voices against this mother of injustices.
The Messenger of Allah and Prophet of Islam warned that Allah says,
“O My slaves, I have forbidden zulm (injustice, wrongdoing, unfairness) upon Myself and I have made it Haraam (illegal, forbidden) amongst you, so do not wrong one another”.
Saheeh Muslim, 2577
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) further warned
“Beware of injustice, for injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection”.
Saheeh Muslim, 2578
We pray to Allah the Almighty to expedite the sure and certain closure of Guantanamo Bay Prison Camp and every ignominious and detestable place of torture and oppression.
