Should any still exist in a post-truth world, credible historians will undoubtedly trace the definitive inflection point marking the terminal collapse of long-standing, sacrosanct, rules-based treaties governing international and human relations to the Gaza genocide of post-2023. And what bitter irony it is that a nation once central to the very formation of international humanitarian law should now stand instrumental in its final unravelling and the inevitable, and almost certain, irreversible descent into a lawless, might-is-right dystopia.

History is littered with evil powers drunk on hubris, sowing the seeds of their own downfall while seeking dominion over those with less wherewithal – and Zionist Israel will be no different. Yet, throughout their genocidal campaign in Gaza, it is the doublespeak of their allies – in media and governments – hunting with the hounds and running with the hare, gaslighting the world to sustain unspeakable policies and practices in Palestine that have now come to a head in Gaza.

Throughout such storms, it is the courage, unyielding defiance and selfless philanthropy of ordinary people who refuse to let their humanity be extinguished, and who see the good in the world worth fighting for that keeps the darkness at bay. That champion is not any pretentious, self-aggrandising leader engineering international Laureate recognition.
