The Lewisham Islamic Centre is pleased to announce that it has been successful in receiving funding set up specifically to aid charities providing services to people and communities during the Coronavirus pandemic. As part of the application process, it was accepted that the Centre has a long, established history of helping the poor and needy, be that with its work on feeding the homeless, and more recently collaborating with local projects such as with The Point, a community centre which last month launched a dedicated grocery delivery service for Lewisham NHS staff. The ‘Help Lewisham Hospital’ support team coordinates donations of essential foods and household items so that staff can maximise their rest time.
The work we have done with The Point and the impact it has had are recognised from the tweets shown.
Whilst the funding received will go towards continued help and support to those severely impacted by the pandemic, we still however require your continued financial support for the Centre’s upkeep given its substantially reduced income brought about by closure.
